Abstract
"«Giving Life a Chance» ofrece, una vez más, la perspectiva de una madre sobre el equipo de profesionales que ha acompañado a sus tres embarazos. Nirmmala Jegatbesan es una mujer de Singapur de clase media que trabaja en la Cruz Roja y cuya vida se complica bastante: en su primer embarazo descubre que sufre de lupus, motivo por el que su hijo no parece crecer; a los dos años de nacer descubren que este primer hijo es autista; durante su segundo embarazo, además de los sangrar durante seis meses, necesita inyectarse hormonas diariamente para no perder al bebé, así como enoxaparina para evitar coágulos en la sangre, además de aspirinas, esteroides orales y medicamentos para el hipotiroidismo. Cuando decide dejar de trabajar para cuidar a sus hijos, descubre para su gran sorpresa que espera un tercer hijo".
