Abstract
I propose to discuss in this paper the meaning that it has acquired the figure of John Dewey in the work of Richard Rorty. I try to show briefly that relations Rorty has been established between his neopragmatism and that Dewcy developed from the first decade of century are not without contradictions, and coexistence of arguments deweyanas rortyanos and the nature of philosophy and legitimacy of democracy is much more complex and controversial what Rorty himself has given understand. Although Richard Bcrnstcin and Thomas in McCarthy have hinted at recent occasions the difficulties I encloses Rorty's use of arguments Dewey, the fact is that the dís- cussion in 1985 had R.
