Las frustraciones y los éxitos de la Reforma protestante española del siglo XVI [The frustrations and successes of the Spanish Protestant Reformation of the sixteenth century]

Abstract

"La Reforma protestante en España se vio frustrada en gran medida, incluso aplastada, por la Inquisición. Sin embargo, la popularidad actual de la versión Reina Valera de la Biblia en el mundo hispanoparlante nos indica que al menos uno de los resultados de la Reforma protestante española tuvo un éxito que los protestantes del siglo XVI nunca vieron ni aun soñaron. Quisiera dividir este ensayo en tres partes. En primer lugar, examinaré la entrada y difusión en España de varias formas del humanismo y las corrientes teológicas que lo acompañaron. Luego consideraré la reacción oficial de la política eclesiástica española a las ideas y libros escritos por los humanismos europeos. Por último, comentaré acerca de los protestantes españoles en el exilio y la traducción de la Biblia del Oso, como se conoce la famosa traducción de la Biblia al castellano por el humanista protestante Casiodoro de Reina. Espero así evocar la obra milagrosa que es la sobrevivencia de la Biblia más común en el idioma castellano" ["The Protestant Reformation in Spain was thwarted largely even crushed by the Inquisition. Finally, I will comment on the Spanish Protestants in exile and translation of the Bible of the Bear, and the famous translation of the Bible into Castilian by the Protestant Queen Casiodoro humanist known.
