Abstract
"Presentar la personalidad y la obra de Rogelio Martínez Furé es siempre un privilegio y un reto. Este hombre de cultura universal ha desempeñado un papel fundamental en el rescate y el accionar de la cultura cubana a partir de los años sesenta. Investigador erudito, ha hecho visible no sólo la presencia de la cultura de la llamada “gente sin historia”, sino el acervo africano que también nos es propio. Fundador del Conjunto Folklórico Nacional y animador de instituciones importantes, tiene el don de cantar, componer música y hacer poesía. Sabemos, además, de su generosa contribución como asesor y promotor de muchos proyectos y realizaciones surgidos en el campo artístico-literario de nuestro país. Más allá del esfuerzo extraordinario que supuso el rastrear en libros y publicaciones periódicas mucha de la poesía que aquí aparece, el entregarnos en 1968 la primera edición de Poesía anónima africana fue uno de los eventos relevantes que se produjeron en aquellos años sesenta y setenta del pasado siglo XX. Importantes acontecimientos políticos y culturales se reflejaron en el campo de la poesía. A partir de los años veinte y treinta, y particularmente en los sesenta del siglo XX, voces y temas de una gran poesía negra se extendieron casi simultáneamente por lo que hoy llamamos el Atlántico Negro. Emergieron los temas de la horrible trata y la explotación del esclavo. Aparecieron algunos de los hitos más sobresalientes y reconocidos de la gran poesía universal del siglo" ["Present the personality and work of Rogelio Martinez Fure is always a privilege and a challenge.
