Abstract
"Lo que esta colección de ensayos se propone lograr resulta hoy más importante que nunca. Sus autores intentan, como lo hicieran sus predecesores en los tres volúmenes anteriores, cada uno en su contexto cultural y político particular, fomentar una “teología cristiana liberadora intercontinental del pluralismo religioso”. Su propósito es desarrollar no sólo un diálogo religioso más fructífero entre cristianos y seguidores de otros caminos religiosos, sino un diálogo que también sea liberador. Este es un esfuerzo para vincular las actuales teologías de las religiones con las actuales teologías de la liberación. Felizmente, ello se ha convertido en el interés y el compromiso de un número creciente de teólogos cristianos en la última década. Y los volúmenes de esta serie “Por los muchos caminos de Dios” han sido una contribución significativa a ese crecimiento. Lo que me propongo señalar en este breve prólogo es por qué esta tarea –vincular el diálogo interreligioso con la liberación interreligiosa– es hoy más urgente y más compleja que nunca. Mi tesis, si así puede llamársele, es que la razón principal y la causa esencial de la creciente injusticia económica en el mundo, y de la pobreza deshumanizante que resulta de tal injusticia, es, en sí misma, religiosa. Las fuerzas que están generando tanta riqueza y, al mismo tiempo, tal disparidad en su distribución, se han convertido ellas mismas en una religión. El mercado libre global se ha vuelto una religión exclusivista mundial. Las religiones del mundo, tanto individual como interreligiosamente, deben participar en un diálogo liberador profético con esta nueva religión mundial. Sin un diálogo interreligioso con la religión del mercado, no se podrá desafiar y “convertir” eficazmente el poder deshumanizante del mercado" ["What this collection of essays aims to achieve is now more important than ever. Its authors try, as did their predecessors in the previous three volumes, each including its cultural and political context, to promote "inter-liberating Christian Theology of Religious Pluralism." Its purpose is to develop not only a more fruitful religious dialogue between Christians and followers of other religious paths, but a dialogue that is also liberating. This is an effort to link current theologies of religions existing liberation theologies. Fortunately, it has become the interest and commitment of a growing number of Christian theologians in the last decade. And the volumes of the series "Of the many ways of God" have been a significant contribution to that growth. What I intend to point out in this short prologue is why this task -vincular interreligious dialogue with interreligiosa- release is now more urgent and more complex than ever. My thesis, if we may so call it, is the main reason and the essential cause of the increasing economic injustice in the world, and dehumanizing poverty that results from such injustice is itself religious. The forces that are generating so much wealth and at the same time, the disparity in distribution, have themselves become a religion. The global free market has become a worldwide exclusive religion. The religions of the world, both individually and interreligiosamente must participate in a prophetic liberator dialogue with this new world religion. Without an interfaith dialogue with the religion of the market, you can not challenge and "convert" the dehumanizing effectively market power"]
