Maquiavel e a Política do Desejo [Machiavelli and the Politics of Desire]

Abstract

"O artigo leva em conta as diferentes leituras da obra de Maquiavel – as quais tentam explicar a dualidade do autor (ao mesmo tempo republicano e conselheiro de Lorenzo de Médici) – e traz para o primeiro plano de análise a defesa da liberdade e a articulação desta com a dinâmica dos humores da cidade a fim de pôr em relevo a decisiva contribuição de C. Lefort para a discussão do caráter democrático dos ensinamentos do pensador florentino. Em seguida, trata-se de encontrar no Discurso da servidão voluntária, de La Boétie, e nos Ensaios, de Montaigne, isto é, na recepção francesa da filosofia política de Maquiavel orquestrada no século XVI, novas evidências da articulação entre desejo e liberdade. Tais elementos não apenas se mostram consoantes a interpretação fornecida por C.
