Maquiavel, Retórica e Política [Machiavelli, Rhetoric and Politics]

Abstract

"O objetivo do artigo é discutir a importância e a valorização da retórica no renascimento e a natureza da relação que se estabeleceu entre retórica e política no pensamento republicano renascentista e, em especial, na obra de Maquiavel. Procura-se mostrar o estreito vínculo entre a filosofia, a retórica e a política, seguido de uma breve exposição a respeito dos gêneros retóricos e da preeminência, do gênero deliberativo sobre os outros gêneros. A relação entre retórica e política na renascença será considerada a partir da análise de dois discursos deliberativos, o primeiro retirado da História do povo florentino de Leonardo Bruni, o outro é extraído da História de Florença de Maquiavel. A análise deverá expor não apenas o vínculo estreito entre retórica e política em Bruni e Maquiavel, mas também que, precisamente por causa deste vínculo, que os discursos analisados manifestam concepções distintas de república" ["The aim of the paper is to discuss the importance and value of rhetoric in the Renaissance and the nature of the relationship established between rhetoric and politics in Renaissance republican thought and in particular the works of Machiavelli. Attempts to show the close connection between philosophy, rhetoric, politics, followed by a brief presentation about the rhetorical genres and preeminence, the deliberative genre over other genres. The relationship between rhetoric and politics in the Renaissance will be considered based on the analysis of two deliberative speeches, the first taken from the history of the Florentine people of Leonardo Bruni, the other is extracted from History of Florence Machiavelli.
