Abstract
The ethics of the Twentieth century have brought again to light classic concepts such as ‘practical rationality’, ‘deliberation’ and ‘care’. In medical practice, imposition gave place to self-management and deliberative habits became essential. Moral deliberation is the reflection on values and duties affecting the concrete facts in order to deal with a situation in a reasonable and prudent way. This rationality is not idealistic, pragmatic or utilitarian, and thus focus not on the ideal, right, decision or the one which maximizes the results, but prudent solutions1 . In this chapter, on the basis of published papers2,3,4,5,6, observation and notes I took during my participation in classes and conversations, I present, in a synthetic way, the proposal of Diego Gracia for deliberation in Clinical Bioethics. It is a methodical proposal that aims to avoid fundamentalist or pragmatic exaggerations in moral decision making, based on, among others, the philosophical teachings of Aristotle, Zubiri, Toulmin, Habermas, Scheller and Ricoeur"]
