Abstract
This article aimed to delineate the question of vulnerability as perceived by individuals having chronic renal disease in hemodialitic treatment. This is a descriptive, exploratory research of a qualitative-quantitative type carried through in a satellite hemodialitic unit of the city of São Paulo. The sample was composed by 37 chronic renal patients who had answered to a questionnaire with open and closed questions. The subjects evidenced suffering with the disease and the treatment; physical, social, emotional, sexual, economic limitations, and impacts in daily life; difficulties of communicating with the health team, fears, unreliability and the importance of the family. The patients disclosed some aspects of vulnerability before the disease and the treatment, and said to face them means of support by the family; faith in God and renal transplant; negation of the disease; and acceptance of the new condition of life"]
