Abstract
"O presente estudo teve como objetivos conhecer o pensamento de auxiliares e técnicos em enfermagem a respeito da autonomia do doente mental e demonstrar a importância do respeito ao doente mental pelo profissional de enfermagem para um cuidado adequado. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, mas aproveitou-se para explorar também alguns dados quantitativos, possível pelo tipo de formulário que foi aplicado na coleta dos dados. A pesquisa foi realizada numa instituição psiquiátrica de pequeno porte e envolveu 25 profissionais da saúde mental, 13 auxiliares de enfermagem e 12 técnicos em enfermagem. Não foi utilizado nenhum critério de exclusão. No estudo, ficaram evidenciadas algumas condutas indispensáveis para que o doente mental possa ser respeitado e correspondentemente cuidado em clínica psiquiátrica. Esta pesquisa procurou contribuir com as discussões acerca do respeito à autonomia do doente mental, colocando no centro a Bioética; e procurou verificar como tais percepções mais amplas se podiam traduzir em atendimento respeitoso e humanizado" ["The present study aimed at knowing how nursing assistants and technicians regarding the autonomy of the mentally ill and at demonstrating the importance of this respect for the nursing professional to offer an adequate care. It is a qualitative research, but it has also explored some quantitative data due to the kind of form applied in data collection. The research was carried through in a small size psychiatric institution and involved 25 mental health professionals, thirteen nursing assistants and twelve nursing technicians. No exclusion criterion was used. The study showed to be some indispensable behaviors for mentally ill persons to be respected and well cared in psychiatric clinics. This research aimed at contributing to debates concerning respect to the autonomy of mentally ill persons, placing in the center Bioethics, and it also aimed at verifying how such broader perceptions could translate in respectful and humane assistance"]
