Abstract
"This paper presents some impressions on the current state of bioethics in Latin America, based on factual data accessible at the website http://www.bioetica.ops-oms,org . In general, a sustained quantitative improvement in bioethical interest can be observed since the establishment of the PAHO/WHO Regional Program on Bioethics in January, 1994 . Some features of this development and of the institutions expressing it are presented in order to stimulate discussion."
