Abstract

Jewish Pesach and Christian Easter are the most important and oldest feasts. These two religions have the same roots. Both of them use Hebrew Bible known as " The Old Testament" in which they return to the personality of patriarch Abraham.
The crucial incident in these religions is The Act of Redemption. In Judaism this act is represented by Moses´s escape from Egyptian slavery and subsequently the birth of a new nation. In Christian religion it is the martyred death of Christ and his Resurrection.
My bachelor work is devided into two main parts. In the first one I briefly mention the religion of Judaism and subsequently I follow up with the description of the feast itself (Pesach). The second part on Christianity is similar. As these two parts are closely related, the historical and cultural significance of folk traditions and symbols, which have become the inseparable part of these important feasts, are described as well. The final part is finished by the last chapter which mutually compares these two parts.
