Abstract
"The purpose of this paper is to discuss some of the attempts made to define basic ethical principals for multinational firms and the intellectual bases on which those attempts were established. The paper will also provide an example of the complications that can occur when the attempt is made to turn ethical precepts into law."

African contextual ethics : hunger, leadership, faith and media

Nduku, Elizabeth; Stückelberger, Christoph (Globethics.net, 2013)
This volume in the Focus series brings together articles presented at an interdisciplinary session on applied ethics held at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Nairobi, Kenya, in June 2012. Current topics in development ethics, political ethics, media ethics, governance ethics and business ethics are developed from African perspectives, using examples drawn from Kenya and Tanzania. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948 recognised the inherent dignity and equal and inalienable rights of the members of the human family as the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world. Article 1 states: 'All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.' These values form the basis for this publication.
