O ethos caritativo e o parentesco ritual entre os confrades do Rosário [The charitable ethos and the ritual kinship among Rosário’s fellows]

Abstract

"Este artigo procura questionar os papéis políticos representados pela família ritual confrarial a partir do ethos caritativo que aquela praticava no interior das Irmandades de N. Sra. do Rosário, tanto no âmbito rural, quanto do urbano da América Portuguesa e Império. Levando-se em consideração as especificidades das “vivências” de cativeiro nos espaços urbano e rural, esta comunicação pretende, a partir de uma abordagem comparativa, entender como o movimento caritativo de assistência mútua, baseado na economia do dom – esta responsável pela edificação de uma rede hierárquica de dependência recíproca – poderia influenciar no sistema normativo de valores da escravidão, definido nas concepções de cativeiro justo e legítimo" ["This article intends to question the political roles represented by the ritual brotherly family under the perspective of the charitable ethos that was practiced within the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Rosary, both in rural and urban Portuguese America and in the Portuguese Empire. Taking into account the specificities of captivity "experiences" in urban and rural areas, this communication intends, from a comparative approach, to understand how the charitable mutual assistance movement, based on the economy of the gift accountable for the building of a hierarchical network of mutual dependence, could influence the slavery normative system of values, set in the conceptions of just and legitimate captivity"]
