Abstract
Based on assumptions derived from the Church’s Social Doctrine and the Promised Land myth, the Pastoral Commission of the Land discusses theories present in the social-historical field, thus contributing to the implantation of specific development projects. The construction of God’s Kingdom was first – from 1975 until the end of the 80s – identified with “the struggle for the construction of a socialist society” and later, in a second moment - from 1990 until nowadays, with an “agroecology” which would provide more harmonious relations between men and their environment, thus accomplishing the prophecy of the “land without evil”"]
