Relações entre laicidade e religião [Relations between laicity and religion]

Abstract

"O objetivo desse artigo é refletir sobre as relações e tensões atuais entre a laicidade e a religião. Tomando como ponto de partida as relações entre Estado, nação e democracia, bem como o modelo francês de laicidade, discutimos a crise dos valores cívicos e políticos de matriz republicana e os impasses dos dispositivos clássicos da laicidade diante da radicalização do imperativo moderno de autonomia individual, da desregulamentação do religioso e da crescente eficácia e pregnância simbólica dos processos identitários coletivos articulados com base em perspectivas religiosas" ["The aim of this paper is to set some reflections about actual relations and tensions between laicity and religion. Taking the relations between state, nation and democracy, as well as the laicity´sfrench model, as a starting point, we discuss the crisis of republican-democratic civic and political values and the actual problems related to the classical laicity. We argue that these problems arise from the radicalization of the modern imperative of individual autonomy, the desregulation of the religious and from the growing efficacy and symbolic pregnancy of religious-based processes of collective identity"]
