Abstract
Destaca o esforço do prof. Sugere usar experimentalmente outras epistemologias para interrogar a sua e a de outras sociedades, como pode ser o caso das epistemologias religiosas, no campo das ciências da religião" ["This text refers to Leila Amaral’s declaration about the intellectual posture of professor Otávio Velho, during the period that she was his student in the PPGAS (Postgraduate Program in Social Anthropology), in the National Museum of the UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro). It highlights the efforts of professor Otávio to get his students to produce an anthropological line of thought which is constituted in “dialogue”. This professor’s intellectual posture, unrelated to any theoretical model held to be a fixed system of thought, leads him to explore a type of anthropological thought which allows the universe itself that is under investigation to position itself in the “conversation” about the central questions of its age. He suggests using other epistemologies experimentally to question its own and that of other societies, as may be the case with religious epistemologies, in the field of religious sciences"]
