Sexo, oração e rock'and'roll [Sex, prayer and rock'and'roll]

Abstract

"Esse artigo é resultado de dois anos de pesquisa etnográfica sobre sexualidade e religião entre jovens evangélicos, da Igreja do Evangelho Quadrangular. Ele tem como objetivo construir uma análise das percepções sobre sexualidade de jovens entre 18 a 24 anos da cidade de Santa Maria, a partir de sua vivência religiosa. O foco da análise é resignificação da trajetória afetivo-sexual dos jovens a partir da conversão ao pentecostalismo. Nesse contexto, a reflexão sobre o passado [trajetória sexual] proporciona sua recriação a partir da vivência religiosa do presente. Destaco da análise que a variável gênero é um elemento fundamental para pensar a relação dos jovens com a divisão entre sagrado e profano, bem como as estratégias através das quais os jovens driblam as normas da igreja e jogam com o discurso religioso de forma a adequá-lo às suas experiências sexuais e, ao mesmo tempo, reforçar seu pertencimento ao grupo" ["This paper is the result of a two-year ethnographic research on sexuality and religlon among evangelical youths, members from 'The Four Square Gospel Church". It aims at constructing an analysis of the perception of youths (between 18 to 24) about sexuality, in Santa Maria. The focus of the analysis is the re--signification of their affectionate and sexual trajectories from the conversion to pentecostalism onwards. In this context, the refiection about the past (sexual trajectory) provides his reconstruction, based on the religious experience of the present. I remark that the gender category is an important element to think the relation of the youths with the division between sacred and profane, as well as the strategies that they utilize to play with the church's norms and the religious' discourse, in way to adapt their sexual experiences to it and, at the same time, reinforce their religious identity"]
