Abstract
The religiousness is present in the context of health-disease and it is frequently observed the attribution to God’s intervention the solution of health problems. The study had the objective to identify, in the messages of television programs of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG), connections between religiousness and health, as well as to reflect upon the healing promises under the light of the bioethics: autonomy, heteronomy and alterity. Both the content and the format of the messages presented heteronomous characteristics, harming the autonomy principle: they tended to coerce the viewer to follow behavioral rules preached by this religion, aiming to convince him or her that health problems come from spiritual causes. The alterity principle was assaulted by the devaluation and disqualification of medicine and other religious explanations"]
