Abstract
Having noted the extent to which the theme of desire is at the heart of the debate in modern and contemporary philosophy, the author marks out the position of Blondel with a view to emphasizing his originality. According to Blondel, Desire constitutes the original dynamism of being ; it never ceases to feed itself from the deepest of its roots. It arises from the discrepancy between the object which is thought and the thinking being, the object willed and the being which wills. Desire, the source of the acts of thinking and willing, furthermore and especially grounds their union, — that is to say, grounds the action which is the force of accomplishment in the recognised incompletion. The author illustrates this point by examining the position of the problem of God in the philosophy of Blondel.
