Abstract
The paper investigates the dynamics of the relationship between Chinese living in Bengkalis, Riau with the local community of Malay. The author finds out some challenges of the integration between these two groups, mostly come from the economics disparity. In fact, the Chinese is often seen to be more establish in economics terms, and in some cases creates jelousy among the Malay as the son of the soil. Another factor is the stereotype stating that the Duthc gave some privileges to the Chinese in the past leading to the current condition.
