Abstract
This article aims to determine the plausibility of belief in the inherent immortality of the soul from the parable of the rich man and Lazarus reading, contidaem Luke 16. Therefore, the historical setting is reassembled from a reading of Jewish texts and Greco Romans of the time and linguistic-cultural analysis, specifically the term hades, used in Luke 16:23. Based on bibliographic data that bolstered this research, it appears that the authors of this century and the last century agree that can not be extracted from a doctrinal basis for the inherent immortality of the soul from that narrative nor, even, an endorsement of it"]
