Abstract
"Em um de seus memoráveis sermões, o pastor Enoch de Oliveira, ex-presidente da Igreja Adventista do Sétimo Dia para a América do Sul, lembrava a letra de uma música popular que contava a história de “Pedro Pedreiro”, um homem que tinha a vida marcada por esperas. “Ele espera o sol, espera o dia, espera o trem, o aumento do salário para o mês que vem. A mulher de Pedro Pedreiro espera um filho, para ele esperar também. Pedro Pedreiro espera a sorte, espera o dia de voltar para o norte. Pedro Pedreiro espera a morte”. Mas, concluía o pastor Enoch, “na vida de Pedro Pedreiro não há espaço para a espera das esperas”, querendo com estas palavras referir-se à espera da segunda vinda de Cristo" ["In one of his memorable sermons, Enoch de Oliveira pastor, former president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in South America, remember the lyrics of a popular song that told the story of "Peter Mason," a man who had the life marked by delays. "He hopes the sun, waiting for the day, waiting for the train, the increase in salary for the month. The wife of Peter Mason expecting a child, waiting for him too. Peter Mason hopes luck, waiting for the day to return to the north. Peter Mason awaits death ". But concluded the pastor Enoch, "the life of Peter Mason no room for waiting Waits," meaning with these words refer to waiting for the second coming of Christ"]
