Abstract
"A controvérsia sobre a extensão da inerrância bíblica continua viva entre os evangélicos no cenário do debate teológico atual e, como afirma Coleman, o assunto “não quer morrer”1. A questão, que é considerada por alguns tão importante quanto os debates cristológicos do terceiro e quarto séculos, ou como as disputas soteriológicas do século XVI, tornou-se uma fonte de crescente angústia e divisão na coalizão evangélica. Para os herdeiros da teoria de Warfield, de uma Bíblia perfeita e inerrante, uma linha deve ser traçada entre aqueles que aceitam uma visão plena das Escrituras, e aqueles que não aceitam2. Assim, a inerrância se tornou uma insígnia evangélica, sob o conceito de que “é melhor estar dividido pela verdade do que unido pelo erro”" ["The controversy over the extent of biblical inerrancy is still alive among evangelicals in the scenario of the current theological debate and, as stated by Coleman, it "did not want to die" 1. The question, which is considered by some as important as the Christological debates of the third and fourth centuries, or as the soteriological disputes of the sixteenth century, has become a source of growing anxiety and division in the evangelical coalition.
