Abstract

"¿Cuándo fue la última vez que usted predicó un sermón basado en un pasaje de las profecías de Amós o de Malaquías? Creo que muchos podemos decir que hace bastante tiempo, o quizás nunca. La verdad es que para la mayoría de nosotros el género profético es de interpretación más difícil que, digamos, los evangelios o las epístolas de Pablo – las partes de la Biblia que mas destacamos en nuestros ministerios.

Los libros proféticos del Antiguo Testamento contienen grandes verdades teológicas y expresiones de extraordinaria elocuencia y belleza acerca de Dios, su amor, su justicia, y su perdón que todos debemos comprender y compartir. Sin embargo, a menudo nos quedamos sin la bendición de ese conocimiento, por una mano, por la incomodidad de no comprender el libro, o por otra mano, por hacer interpretaciones imaginarias (alegóricas) y especulativas sin respetar las normas hermenéuticas esenciales" ["When was the last time you preached based on a passage in the prophecies of Amos and Malachi sermon? The truth is that for most of us the prophetic genre is more difficult to interpret than, say, the Gospels and the Epistles of Paul - parts of the Bible that emphasize more in our ministries.

The prophetic books of the Old Testament contain great theological truths and expressions of extraordinary eloquence and beauty of God, His love, His justice, and forgiveness we must all understand and share. However, we were often without the blessing of that knowledge, by hand, by the discomfort of not understanding the book, or other hand, by making imaginary (allegorical) and speculative interpretations without respecting the essential hermeneutical rules"]
