Abstract
Something that continues to itch? In the Bible there is a verse that speaks of itching. The Greek words are knethomenoi ten akoen, "itching ear" or "ticklish ears." It is the expression - only in the New Testament - used by Paul in his last letter to Timothy 4: 3 to describe believers of the end times. William Barclay translates the term as "ears that need to be constantly entertained with news". The New International Version reads "were themselves teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear." It's an apt to describe the unhealthy fascination of many evangelical and Pentecostal believers today description"]
