Abstract
Quart, la transmissió de la fe i els meta-llenguatges" ["Seeing and hearing (videre et audire): these two paradigms are already present in the Dei Verbum that was proclaimed on 18 November 1965. This dogmatic Constitution on divine revelation from the start presents us this model of understanding faith and indicates the shape its transmission should take: seeing, hearing and communion. Following this line, this article proposes to go back to Dei Verbum to read it from the point of view of these two elements – seeing and hearing – because today more than ever, while we need to conceptualise faith dogmatically we also need to do it experientially. Fundamental theology has been studying this experiential process of believing and the possibility of faith, during the whole of the post-Conciliar period: God who has revealed himself has to be “seen” and “heard” in order to be understood intelligently and to make possible the response of faith which his revelation requires. The transmission of the contents of faith becomes the essential element when speaking about “God” to men and women of our day. This is all set out in four points for a rereading of the first chapter of Dei Verbum: first, God who reveals himself and the problem of speaking about God today; secondly, the transmission of the revelation and the understanding of this revelation; thirdly, the empathetic understanding of the Mystery of God; fourthly, the transmission of faith and meta-languages"]
