Abstract
This article deals with the possibility that the self-esteem of black people can be constructed from the critical consciousness about what it means to be black or black on a non-ruled country in racial diversity, but the supremacy of white values, taking the figure of white people the universal model of human being. For the self-esteem of black people can then be built, albeit against the hegemonic power, it is necessary that these people can be aware of their racial belonging, through recognition of what has been the history of blacks in Brazil, as well as their African ancestry. It is from this critical awareness that these people can get to know better and therefore, if autovalorizar and autoestimar"]
