Abstract
This paper is a reflection on the relationship between monotheism and religious intolerance and politics present in the history. The adopted premise states that the monotheisms – Jewish, Christian and Islamic – tend to favor the intolerance among people and in relation to religious choices and politics of individuals in their respective nations. The difficulty of accepting the “other” is, in this perspective, inherent to the monotheistic character, that is, the imposition of one god. The analysis of Greek polytheism and Egyptian monotheistic experience, rescued by Freud, provides us elements to think the monotheisms we know"]
