Abstract
"This paper discusses some of the main characteristics of modernism and its influence on science and in particular theology. Descartes7 approach to reason, "I think; therefore I am," and the Newtonian mechanism (mathematical principles of Natural Philosophy) prepared the way for deifying reason during the Enlightenment. Modernism became the foundation on which the so-called "scientific paradigm" was built. "Scientists" were regarded as people who could produce exact and unambiguous results. This paradigm framed our intellectual, social, and theological thoughts and influenced scholars to become paternalistic and imperialistic, serving exclusive goals and propagating reductionistic truths"
