Abstract
"The "Devotio Moderna," entitled The Moderrt Devotion in a recent book by R. R. Post (but perhaps more accurately to be translated as "The New Devotion" I), was a spiritual movement which originated in the Netherlands toward the end of the 14th century. This movement, of which Gerard Groote (1340-84) is considered to have been the founder, consisted primarily of three related groups : the Brethren of the Common Life, the Sisters of the Common Life, and the Augustinian Canons Regular of the Congregation of Windesheim"
