The purpose of this paper is to show the child-rearing and educational practices of the Kibbutz and how these practices have effected the character of the adolescent of the Kibbutz. I have found the research and information gained in this study of special interest to me since, though I was born and brought up in Israel? my contact with the adolescent, as he is found in the Kibbutz, has been rare and insufficient to give me a clear concept in which such adolescent differs from the one living in the cities in Israel. In this paper I shall give a brief description of how the Kibbutz came into being; then I will explain how the philosophy of child rearing aud education developed in such an environment, I will give an overview of the general educational system in the Kibbutz, I will give a brief review of the literature concerning the characteristics of the Kibbutz adolescent. and I will show the results of a questionaire l gave to Kibbutz adolescents and young adults now residing in Los Angeles. I will conclude with a brief evaluation of the total existing program.
