This report concerns two streams of
Technical Assistance provided by the World Bank Water and
Sanitation Program (WSP) to the Government of Vietnam. They
are: strengthening the enabling environment, capacity
building systems and evidence-based learning and lesson
sharing. Strengthening demand creation and supply chain
development together these TAs make up a support program to
assist the Government of Vietnam, particularly the Ministry
of Health (MOH) in accelerating progress on sanitation under
the third National Target Program on Rural Water Supply and
Sanitation (NTP3). WSP has supported the government to
improve the enabling environment for sanitation service
 delivery; strengthen rural sanitation supply chains;
generate demand for improved sanitation; and inform service
delivery models through knowledge and learning. The TAs
began in Dec 2012 and are due to end in Jun 2016. This
report documents the results and lessons learned from the
TA, and makes recommendations for future activities in
 support of rural sanitation.Date

Sanitation Finance in Rural CambodiaRobinson, Andy (World Bank, Washington, DC, 2012-02)This document presents the findings of a study on sanitation finance in Cambodia conducted for the Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The overall objective of the assignment was to consider sustainable sanitation financing options with a focus on promoting access for the poorest. This guidance note contains an introduction on sanitation financing and subsidies, stating the cases for subsidies as well as some of their practical pitfalls. The study used data (as of late 2009) from two case studies of rural sanitation finance in Cambodia to illustrate the practical issues, sup-plemented by preliminary data from two sanitation marketing projects. The study also examined the potential use and effectiveness of (hardware) subsidies, conditional cash transfers (CCTs), and other financing approaches relevant for sanitation improvement. The document ends with recommendations for improved sanitation finance, including practical suggestions for sanitation programs in Cambodia. These recommendations bear particular relevance for the ADB's Second Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project, which commenced in 2010.

Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Challenges in Latin America for the Next Decade : Lessons from the "Cusco+10" International SeminarPearce-Oroz, Glenn (World Bank, Washington, DC, 2014-03-18)This report summarizes the current context of the water and rural sanitation sub-sector and the analysis thereof undertaken at the Cusco+10 seminar. The first part of the report, basic rural services at the end of the 20th century, summarizes the situation as it stood in the 1990s and the conclusions reached at the 1999 seminar workshop. The second part, Trends in the first decade of the 21st century, identifies some of the new variables that have emerged and are shaping the context as work continues toward establishing sustainable services. The third part, challenges for the next decade, reports the findings from the Cusco plus 10 analyses and sums them up in five major challenges to be addressed. Finally, the fourth part, conclusions, looks to the future and suggests some new trends that are affecting the five major cross-cutting themes.
