Abstract
Winter 2008 | 2009 Volume 15 Meeting the Needs of Today's Students Continues as Focus By John B. Muller, Ph.D. President Bellevue University As always, this edition of The View includes articles about students and alumni, faculty and staff, program offerings, and accomplishments and recognition. You also may have noticed that The View has a fresh look and feel. A facelift seemed appropriate, since a publication for Bellevue University's alumni and friends should be a contemporary showcase for what is happening now and where we're going. By the time The View arrives in your mailbox, the United States will have a new President-elect and many other elected officials. Time magazine and the Biography channel will be selecting their "2008 Person of the Year." We all will be looking forward to the winter holidays with hopes high for 2009 and whatever is next in our individual lives and our collective life as a nation, society, and world. In the midst of exciting progress and accomplishments of the past year, we have been taking a fresh look and developing a vision to take us from what Bellevue University is today to what it should become. A dedicated team of Bellevue University faculty, staff, and board members has been working to refine the institutional vision and mission going forward to keep the University's role vital while moving it to a new level of quality. It has been a challenging but exciting and invigorating process, and it continues, because learning is a continual process. And our official Fall 2008 enrollment was a record 8,278, including almost 2,500 who are earning master's degrees. Most of these students are older than the "traditional" college age (18-24), and already in the workforce and fully engaged in real life. And, the graduating class of 2008 numbered a record 2,661 (823 earned master's degrees). Bellevue University is committed to adding value, taking people from where they are in life and career, and equipping them for leadership and accomplishment where they're going – where we all are going. We will be revealing more phases of Bellevue University's vision in future editions of The View as well as on our website and through other initiatives. You should know that the most important single component of the vision is YOU – the adult learner. On behalf of the University, I wish each of you a joyful and blessed holiday season and success and happiness in the New Year! © 2008 Bellevue UniversityIdentifier
