AbstractA conference on New Jersey's program for reimbursing hospitals for their expected average cost of treating patients in disease categories known as diagnosis related groups (DRGs), with all insurers and self-paying patients being required to pay a proportionate share of the cost of care of indigent patients, was held on 20-21 June 1985 under the auspices of Seton Hall University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Erde gives a summary description of the New Jersey program and reviews the proceedings of the conference, a set of papers published in the July-August 1986 issue of the
Journal of Medicine and Philosophy. 1987 May; 12(2): 197-201.
