Abstract
The complexity of the contemporary situation of the African continent is a challenge to the ethical action of the Church, which finds itself led to invent new, renewed and adapted modes of action. The author offers in the present article a reflection upon the pastoral action of Bishop Munzihirwa Christophe during his brief tenure in the diocese of Bukavu (Democratic Republic of Congo), in the context of the civil war that is ravaging the Great Lakes area. An analysis of various writings of this pastor brings out ecclesiological presuppositions which serve to guide the faithful as well as the activities of pastors whose commitments lead them into the domain of the socio-political.
