The aim of the paper is to analyze different approaches to corporate social responsibility as the concept of CSR does not have a universally understood meaning, to summarize the research on CSR in Lithuania and assess activities of water supply companies in the context of implementation of CSR principles. Practice shows that integrating CSR in the core of business and making it a part of everyone's daily job is the best way to progress, but the study on researches about CSR situation in Lithuania indicates that companies assume their role as profit seekers and taxpayers while the implementation of the principles of social responsibility are of little relevance. Still, the research on water supply companies has shown that despite the fact that they are not certified according to SA 8000 standard and are not members of CSR National Network / the Global Compact, they act as socially responsible units.Date
