Bibliotheken versuchen auf viele verschiedene Arten zu zeigen, was Sie für ihr Umfeld leisten können. Die Bestimmung des ökonomischen Werts ist eine davon. Ob der Vielfalt ist es interessant zu sehen, wo die Bestimmung des ökonomischen Werts von Bibliotheken aktuell steht und wie ihre Perspektiven für die Zukunft sind. In consideration of this diversity, an evaluation of the current situation and the perspectives of the determination of the economic value in libraries is of interest. Both, the current situation, as well as the future prospects, will be rated by the relevant literature, including reports on up-to-date studies. Terminology and methodology concerning this subject are quite complex. The current examples confirm a large scope of approaches even within the category of economic value. The future of assessing the economic value is connected to standardization, to the utilization of the research results and to impact-assessment. A future interest in the assessment of the economic value in libraries may be assumed.
