Abstract
A cultura contemporânea é marcada pelas tecnologias digitais.
Contemporary culture is marked by digital technologies. In higher education, academic knowledge is produced, systematized and diffused in a society that maintains an ever greater relationship with the digital. In this thesis, this culture is examined among doctoral students who teach in higher education. We interviewed three novice teachers and three experienced, selected in the doctoral course of the Faculty of Education, University of São Paulo (FEUSP) Post-Graduation Program. The goal of the developed research was to analyze teacher training in graduate school and teaching practice in higher education in addition to the uses of digital technologies and realize the design of digital culture of these doctoral students, identifying similarities and differences between beginners and experienced. As a hypothesis, it was considered that digital technologies are a reality for the doctoral students who started the teaching career in higher education because they dominate its uses, but it is not critically perceived as it happens among experienced teachers. In order to operationalize the analysis, the digital culture was conceived from Castells (1999), Lévy (1993) and Morin (2007) and life stories were adopted with interviews as a research method. It was observed that beginners conceive the digital culture more like technology and articulated with the teaching activity. The experts also conceive digital culture more as technology, but articulated with training and research. Both ignore digital culture as a potential network and as a structured knowledge rhizomatically. FEUSP Post-Graduation needs something formal and specific to better handle digital in its courses, and collaboration between beginners and experienced must be considered because they are completed in a teaching group capable of generating a difference/ singularities that we need as quality to meet the contemporary challenges of higher education.
