Abstract
The main effects of indiscriminate human action on nature over the last decades are discussed in this paper. It also urges for the immediate assessment of the results of these actions in view of the medium term prospect of biosphere degradation and the ensuing risk for animal and vegetal life subsistence on Earth before the end of the XXI century. A number of declarations from the UN and UNESCO, international non-government organizations, non aligned weather experts, philosophers, researches and ethicists concerned with our future as Earth inhabitants were analyzed taking into account moral values as well as ethical principles. Society should prioritize the need for an articulation: between human society and nature, between science and ethics, between social justice and environmental laws, in short, between business and political interests on one hand, and an environmental ethics on the other. This discussion suggests that new principles and values should be considered in each ethical dilemma stemming from the duality humanity-nature; further, it acknowledges the possibility of adding new principles and values that might arise in the future in different regions of the world.
