Abstract
This article studies music clips as a means of supporting islamic religious sentiment and the ways in which it is expressed and circulates on the Web. It seeks to show how these productions are a means of promulgating and disseminating the faith, via the concept of “islamic preaching”. Based on an anthropological analysis of a corpus of sacred and secular music videos as well as on the commentaries accompanying them, this contribution deals with muslim stagings. Presentations of the self as muslim, understood through their virtual interactions, account for the various ways of expressing a religious sentiment, without ever “losing face” with respect to other members of the community as well as ways of both knowing how to be and how to declare oneself muslim on the net.
