Abstract
Islamic Economics is a human centered discipline. The state in Islam has to provide adequate facilities to establish the division of labor, cooperation and solidarity among the members of society. It arranges a suitable environment for the owners of factors of production to determine their economic activities such as production, consumption, distribution, trade and transportation with their freewill and consent, also supplies infrastructural services and provides free operation of the market. In this article, we will try to summarize the economic activities of the state in Muslim countries in the past and also to explain what the main functions of the state should be today if based on the principles of Islamic Economics.
