Válka o Falklandy a její vliv na vítězství Margaret Thatcherové v parlamentních volbách v roce 1983

Abstract

Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce je analýza dopadu války o Falklandy na britskou politickou scénu a zejména její vliv na vítězství Konzervativní strany v čele s Margaret Thatcherovou ve všeobecných volbách v roce 1983. Pro pochopení situace obou zainteresovaných zemí (Argentiny a Velké Británie) se autorka na počátku práce zaměří na geografické postavení a význam Falklandských ostrovů. Dále nastíní historický kontext sporů o ostrovy a vývoj vztahů mezi Argentinou a Velkou Británií. Dále bude analyzovat vnitropolitickou situaci v Británii v době první vlády Margaret Thatcherové, včetně hospodářské situace v zemi. V další kapitole se bude věnovat válce samotné. Poslední kapitola, která je pro tuto práci stěžejní, bude analýzou vzestupu volebních preferencí konzervativců v čele s Margaret Thatcherovou a analýzou toho, jaký vliv mělo vítězství ve Falklandské válce, neboli "falklandský faktor", na upevnění pozic konzervativců na politické scéně v Británii. The Falklands War and Its Impact on Margaret Thatcher's Victory in the General Elections of 1983 The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the impact of Falklands War on British political scene and particularly its influence on the victory of Conservative Party in the General elections in 1983. The author takes into account the geographical position and importance of Falkland Islands at the beginning of the thesis, for understanding of situation of both interested countries (Argentina and Great Britain). Further on, the author outlines the historical context of the quarrel for the Falkland Islands and the progress of relations between Argentina and Great Britain. Then she analyses the political situation in Great Britain during the first Thatcher's government, including economic situation in the country. In the next chapter the author analyses the war and its consequences. The last chapter, which is crucial for this thesis, is the analysis of the General election in Great Britain in 1983 with the special regard to the impact of the victorious war mentioned above (so called "Falkland Factor").
