Photograph of the Skokie Caucus Party and Township Citizens Party slate during the 1960s. The Skokie Caucus Party was formed by Skokie citizens concerned about corruption in the Skokie Village government in the late 1950s. Skokies current village manager system of governance is due to a referendum the Skokie Caucus Party was able to pass in the 1957 elections. The party still exists today and has elected the majority of village officials since its formation. Note that Al Smith, mayor of Skokie from 1965-1987 is on the Skokie Caucus Party slate.
