| dc.description.abstract | The socio-economic status of both rural and urban families could be enhanced through the empowerment of the womenfolk, whose activities spread across almost all sectors of the economy. Skill acquisition for women in Nigeria appears to be one of the potent options in this empowerment drive. This paper therefore examines the issue of women empowerment through skill acquisition in Nigeria as a prospect for sustainable development in the 21st century. It reviewed the available skill areas and suggested ways of enhancing skill acquisition as a means of capacity building of women in sustainable development in Nigeria.
