Experiential resonance is a pedagogic approach that allows learners to gaina deeper understanding of the subject matter theory by using that theorydirectly in the structure, dynamics, and learning spaces of the course. Learnersinformed about the application of course theory are asked to reflect onits use. In this preliminary study, management principles were embedded inthe learning spaces of two online distance learning management courses. Apost-course survey, although statistically limited because of the sample size, showed strong learner agreement that management theory had been a resonanttheme in the learning experiences and that its uses had been beneficial.Date

Students' Awareness and Requirements of Mobile Learning Services in the Higher Education EnvironmentNaji S. Alzaza; Abdul R. Yaakub (Science Publications, 2011-01-01)Problem statement: M-learning is considered as the next generation of e-learning using mobile technologies. Students awareness of such technology is one of the most focuses for success adoption. This study aims to investigate students awareness and requirements of mobile learning services among Malaysian students in the higher education environment. Approach: The study found that the higher education environment now has the necessary mobile technology infrastructure to utilize m-learning. Results: Moreover, the results show that students have adequate knowledge and good awareness to use such technology in their education environment. Regarding the university mobile applications that students would like to use individually through mobile technologies, the exam result and course registration were the highest in rank, followed by calendar and schedule services. The highest limitations were the cost of transaction and slow data exchange with networks, followed by concerns over confidentiality of personal information. Conclusion: Future research should be conducted with a big number of respondents to ensure the representative and conclusive finding.

Student's Mobile Information Prototype for the Higher Education EnvironmentNaji S. Alzaza; Abdul R. Yaakub (Science Publications, 2011-01-01)Problem statement: M-learning is considered as the next form of e-learning using mobile technologies to facilitate education for teachers and learners. Students need to keep in touch with their education services anytime regardless the place. Engaging the m-learning services in the Malaysian higher education will improve the availability of education. This study discusses the development and users evaluation of Students Mobile Information Prototype (SMIP). The study aims to utilize mobile learning services to facilitate education for students in the higher education environment. Approach: The Design Science Research Methodology (DSRM) was adapted to develop the SMIP. The evaluation was conducted to determine users perception on the usability aspect of the SMIP. Results: Results of users evaluation on the SMIP indicate that most of the participants highly agreed on perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, learn ability, functionality and didactic efficiency. Moreover, the results confirm that SMIP is useful for users to make their transactions easy, direct and successful, regardless of location and time. Conclusion: It is hoped that the findings of this study will encourage students to keep in touch with their education environment anywhere and anytime.

Toward Successful E-Learning Implementation in Developing Countries: A Proposed Model for Predicting and Enhancing Higher Education Instructors’ ParticipationTarek Taha Ahmed (Human Resource Management Academic Research Society, 2013-01-01)The rapid development and widespread of Internet and communication technologies have materially altered many characteristics and concepts of the learning environment. E-learning emerged as an imperative paradigm of modern education unrestricted by time or place, offering new possibilities to higher education institutions for providing flexible and cost-effective remote or distance learning environment, thus many universities put it in their programs. In developing countries e-learning can compensate the weakness of traditional education methods. While a considerable amount of research has been conducted on e-learning, little has tested it from the perspective of instructors, as a determinant or prerequisite for any successful implementation. Thus this research paper attempts to fill this gap in the current body of literature, specifically in our local context, by empirically examining and validating the critical factors that have the most significant influence on instructor’s participation in e-learning process. In contrast to previous works in this area, the current empirical study extended the research scope by combining the most critical factors identified in literature and applied them in the local context, therefore researcher’s proposed model contained variables that have not been integrated into one framework, to examination simultaneously for validation and relationship. A richer research methodology is used in this empirical study combining quantitative and qualitative methods. Based on its findings the study has made a number of important managerial and academic implications.
