AbstractThis paper explores the use of E-folio in an academic learning environment. Research has shown when students are actively engaged in their learning, they retain more. E-folio can be used for lifelong learning, assessment, and accreditation. In this paper we will present an overview of E-Folio and their application to higher education. Educators in higher education should facilitate a student-centered learning environment which is a key feature of constructivist learning practices. Today’s learner are digital natives and the use of E-folios can help students with taking responsibility for their own learning and be actively engaged in their own learning process. We discuss how E-folio can provide an authentic assessment means which students can provide evidence of cognitive, reflective and affective skills, experience, achievement, an on-going learning, not only for themselves, but for professors, employers, and peers.
