Abstract

ABSTRACT The object of this research is to study the relationship between self-identity and faith development to moral reasoning of adolescent, and even to study the different level of moral reasoning development between early adolescence and late adolescence. The subject involved 419 adolescents

224 junior high school students and 195 senior high school students, using purposive proportional random sampling. The research data were obtained by using self-identity scale (SID), faith development scale (SKI), and moral reasoning scale (DIT). Data analysis was regression analysis and variance analysis A. The result shows that self-identity and faith development, all influenced moral reasoning development of adolescent (F = 941,673 and p = 0,000). Self-identity of late adolescence have 174,841 in average, and early adolescence 168,756. F = 12,243 and p = 0,001. Faith development of late adolescence have higher grade than early adolescence. DAta shows that late adolescence have 108,687 in average, and early adolescence 105,933. F = 10,333 and p = 0,002. Finally, in Padang municipality, the adolescent is on stage 4 of moral reasoning.
