Abstract
The goal of this study is to examine the occurrence of the Church Fathers and their intellectual heritage in Hus's commentary on Psalm 118 with special attention to Augustine and his Enarratio in Psalmum 118. The first part of the paper presents Hus's commentary and points out the presence of other medieval and patristic commentaries, among which the ideas of Augustine of Hippo clearly stand out. The second part focuses on Augustine's interpretation of Psalm 118 and its position within his own exegetic work. Consequently, the author offers an insight into Augustine's exegesis, which is also reflected in Hus's commentary on the said Psalm. The last part of the paper presents a short analysis of both commentaries highlighting the elements shared by the two authors. It shows that in his interpretation, Hus focused on questions connected to morality and practical Christianity.
