AbstractThe purpose of this study is to investigate the critical thinking skills of religious culture and ethics teacher candidates in terms of some variables. The independent variables of the study are gender, high school graduation, birth place, geographical region coming from, settlement unit staying more, educational level of parents, father’s profession, family’s average income and brother number. The sample of the study is 226 teacher candidates in the fall semester of the academic year of 2012-2013 in Ankara ve Kastamonu University, religion culture and ethics teaching department. General scanning method was used in this research; the data has been obtained by “Measurement of California Critical Thinking Skills”. The scale is a lykert-type scale, has 51 items. The value of the overall reliability of measurement instrument (Cronbach Alpha) is 0.88. As a result of this study, it was found that, critical thinking skills of religion culture and ethics teacher candidates are differed with regard to birth place, geographical region coming from, education level of parents, father’s profession and family’s average income.
